Sudarshana homam
Sudarshana homam invokes the chakra of Vishnu, and is kept where obstacles keep returning without a cause the family can name, where there is fear of ill-will, or before a large undertaking. The Sudarshana mantra is recited to the count agreed, and the homam and poornahuti follow.
Families come to this one after other things have been tried. It is invoked for protection rather than for gain, and it is often kept alongside the Mrityunjaya homam where there is illness in the house as well.
It runs three to four hours at the usual count, longer where the family keeps the larger japam with several purohits. It can be done at home; where a family would rather have it at a temple, we arrange that and the archakas. The kundam, the samidhalu and the havis come with us, and the family need arrange nothing at all.
No prices are listed here. Each karyam is quoted on the phone, once we know the date, the place and the custom your family follows.
Questions about this karyam
When is it kept?
Where obstacles keep returning, where there is fear of ill-will, or before a large undertaking. Tell us the circumstances and we will say whether this is the right one.
How long does it take?
Three to four hours at the usual count. The larger japam runs most of a day with several purohits.
Can it be kept with another homam?
Yes. It is often kept with the Mrityunjaya homam where there is illness, and the two are done in one morning.
Is there anything the family should keep afterwards?
The raksha from the poornahuti is tied on the wrist, and the vibhuti is kept in the pooja room. Where the homam was for a particular person we give them the raksha to wear. Nothing else is required of the family, and no observance is imposed for days afterwards.
