Venkateswara kalyanam
Venkateswara kalyanam is the enactment of the Swamy’s kalyanam with Sridevi and Bhudevi, performed at your home or in your community hall. We bring the utsava murtis, perform the kalyanam with the snapana tirumanjanam and the mangala vayudyam, and the family takes the place of the bride’s people.
This is the vratam Telugu families keep for a wish granted, for a marriage that is delayed, and as an annual observance in the house. It is also the one apartment blocks and offices in Hyderabad hold together, and we perform a great many of those in Purattasi and in Sravana masam.
The morning begins with the Ganapati pooja and the punyahavachanam, the utsava murtis are seated, the snapana tirumanjanam is offered, and the kalyanam follows with the mangalasutram, the talambralu and the akshatalu that everyone present has a part in. It closes with the harati and the prasadam.
Where a family has no murti we bring the utsava murtis and take them back afterwards. For a large gathering we arrange the vayudyam and the prasadam for the numbers you give us.
No prices are listed here. Each karyam is quoted on the phone, once we know the date, the place and the custom your family follows.
Questions about this karyam
How long does it take?
About three hours, and longer where a large gathering takes part in the talambralu.
Can our apartment association hold it?
Yes, and many do. Give us the numbers and the space, and we bring the murtis, the vayudyam and the prasadam for all of them.
Which months are best?
Sravana masam and Purattasi above all, and any Saturday otherwise. The Swamy’s own days are the ones we would suggest.
Is the prasadam arranged for a large gathering?
Yes. Give us the numbers a week ahead and we arrange the pulihora, the daddojanam and the laddu, along with the talambralu for everyone to take part. For an apartment block we would rather over-cater slightly than have the last row go without, so tell us the honest number and we will plan above it.
