Siva kalyanam
Siva kalyanam is the enactment of the kalyanam of Siva and Parvati, most often kept on Mahasivaratri and in Karthika and Magha masam. We perform it at your home or hall with the Rudrabhishekam before it, and bring the utsava murtis, the vayudyam and the prasadam.
Families keep it for a marriage that is delayed and for harmony between a couple, and communities hold it on Mahasivaratri with the abhishekam through the night. The Rudrabhishekam is offered first, and the kalyanam follows with the talambralu, in which everyone present has a part. The utsava murtis, the vastram and the talambralu come with us, and where a community keeps its own murtis we use those instead. For a house it runs about two and a half hours; for a temple or a community gathering, longer, because everyone present takes part in the talambralu.
On Mahasivaratri we perform it through the four jamas where a family or a temple keeps the whole night, and for that we agree the purohits and the sequence well in advance.
No prices are listed here. Each karyam is quoted on the phone, once we know the date, the place and the custom your family follows.
Questions about this karyam
When is it usually kept?
Mahasivaratri above all, and in Karthika and Magha masam. Mondays and pradosham otherwise.
Is the abhishekam part of it?
Yes, the Rudrabhishekam is offered before the kalyanam. It can also be kept on its own.
Do you perform the whole night on Sivaratri?
Yes, through the four jamas where the family or the temple keeps it. Tell us well ahead, as that day is booked early.
Can our community hold it in the temple?
Yes. We perform it at the temple with the archakas there, and settle the timing with them beforehand so that it does not clash with the regular archana. For Mahasivaratri, when temples are full through the night, we fix the jama your community will keep and hold that slot.
