Rama kalyanam
Rama kalyanam is the enactment of the kalyanam of Sita and Rama, kept above all on Sri Rama Navami. We perform it at your home or in your community, bring the utsava murtis and the vayudyam, and arrange the panakam, the vadapappu and the prasadam for the gathering.
Sri Rama Navami in Hyderabad is kept street by street and block by block, and this is the kalyanam we are asked for most in Chaitram. The murtis are seated, the kalyanam is performed with the mangalasutram and the talambralu, and the panakam and vadapappu are given to everyone who comes. The vayudyam plays through the kalyanam, and the whole street usually gathers by the time the talambralu begin.
Families also keep it privately for harmony in the house and for a marriage that is delayed. Where the Sundarkand path is kept with it, a Hindi-speaking pandit joins for that part.
No prices are listed here. Each karyam is quoted on the phone, once we know the date, the place and the custom your family follows.
Questions about this karyam
Can our street or block hold it?
Yes, and most of what we do on Rama Navami is exactly that. Give us the numbers and we bring the murtis, the vayudyam and the panakam for all of them.
How far ahead should we book Rama Navami?
A month at least. That single day fills early, and we would rather turn nobody away at the last week.
Is the Sundarkand path kept with it?
Where the family wants it, yes, and a Hindi-speaking pandit performs that part.
Do you bring the utsava murtis?
Yes, where the family or the committee has none. They come with us and go back afterwards, and there is no charge for them beyond the karyam. Where you have your own murtis we use those, which most households prefer, and we bring only the vastram, the flowers and the talambralu.
