Narayana bali
Narayana bali is performed where the ordinary karmas could not be done: a body never found, a death abroad with no karmas at home, a suicide or an accident, or a death that went unmarked for years. It gives the preta the form it did not receive, so that the sapindi and the yearly offerings can follow properly.
The karma is done over two or three days. A body is made in darbha, the samskaram is performed over it as it would have been, and the Narayana bali and the Nagabali follow where your family custom keeps both. Only then can the sapindi karma join the preta with the pitrus and the yearly abdikam begin.
This comes up more often than families expect. Deaths abroad, deaths in an accident where the deham was never recovered, deaths during a period when the family could not gather — none of these are irrecoverable, and there is no time limit on setting them right. Tell us what happened and what was done at the time, and we will tell you whether this is what your family needs.

Questions about this karyam
How long does it take?
Two to three days, depending on whether the Nagabali is kept with it. We tell you the sequence and the days before you fix it.
Can it be done years afterwards?
Yes. There is no limit. Many families come to us ten or twenty years later, and the karma is the same.
Where should it be performed?
At a teertham where possible; Kashi and Gokarna are the usual ones. Where travel is not possible it is performed here, on a river bank, and that is accepted.
