Dasa dina karma
Dasa dina karma is the tenth-day karma, the largest of them. The ten pindas of the preceding days are offered together, the karta takes kshouram, the family bathes, and the house is cleansed so that the sapindi karma can follow on the twelfth or thirteenth day. We plan the venue, the purohits and the meal with the family beforehand.
This is the day the relatives come. It runs to two or three hours and is usually held at the house, at a community hall, or on the bank near the ghat, whichever suits the numbers. The karta and the close male relatives take kshouram, the family bathes, the ten pindas are offered with tarpanam, and the danams are given.
Because the gathering is larger, this one needs planning rather than arranging on the day. We come to you a few days before, count the heads, settle where it will be held, and take on the purohits, the samagri, the danam items and the meal. What the family must decide is only who performs and who is invited.

By custom yes, and most families keep it. Where there is a reason he cannot, tell us; the purohit will follow what your family and its sutra allow.
