Rudrabhishek
Rudrabhishek is the abhishek of the Shivling with the Rudri path recited through it, performed in the North Indian vidhi by a Hindi-speaking pandit. It is kept on Mondays, in Shravan, on Mahashivratri, and for a family under a long affliction.
This is the same worship of Siva that Telugu families keep as the Rudrabhishekam, and it is set out here separately because North Indian families in Hyderabad look for it by this name and in this vidhi. The pandit recites the Rudri, and the abhishek is offered with the panchamrit, the bel patra and the ganga jal. Shravan Mondays fill early, and a household that keeps every Monday of the month should tell us at the start of the month rather than week by week.
Ekadash Rudri and Laghu Rudra are performed where the family keeps them, with eleven pandits reciting together. Tell us which your family follows and we will bring the number it needs.
No prices are listed here. Each karyam is quoted on the phone, once we know the date, the place and the custom your family follows.
Questions about this karyam
Is a Hindi-speaking pandit available?
Yes. The vidhi, the path and the explanation are all in Hindi. Tell us when you book.
How long does it take?
About an hour and a half for the simple Rudrabhishek. Laghu Rudra and Ekadash Rudri run three hours or more with eleven pandits.
Do you bring the Shivling?
Yes, where the family has none at home, and the samagri with it — the bel patra, the panchamrit and the ganga jal.
What is offered during the abhishek?
Ganga jal, milk, curd, honey, ghee, sugarcane juice and sandal, in the order the vidhi sets, with bel patra offered through the Rudri path. We bring all of it. If your family keeps a particular offering that its elders did, name it when you book and the pandit will include it in its place.
